City of God and City of Man

  • Westside Video Venue 10500 SW Nimbus Ave (map)

Joseph Clair PhD, Director of the George Fox University William Penn Honors Program, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies, and an Augustine scholar, is coming to give a seminar (with some Q&A discussion) on 'City of God and City of Man — Being Christian in the 21st Century Public Square — Ancient Wisdom from Saint Augustine.' City of God is one of Augustine's most important works. In this book Augustine unpacks what it is to be a citizen of heaven on Earth and to engage with where we are. This is a great opportunity to hear about something people won't often get to hear about, from an expert, focused on a topic dear to Westside's heart. It's not just for the academics among our church, but also all the ones who like to think of themselves as patrons of Powell's Books...which is most everyone!

Come along to hear from an expert, and be inspired by one of Christianity's most important theologians, and invite someone along — should be interesting, thought provoking, and fun!
